Body Frame Size Calculator
Small, medium or large frame from height and wrist circumference, with an honest note on how little it actually adjusts.
Frame size
–
Frame size is a rough adjustment used with older ideal weight tables. Body fat percentage describes your situation far better than skeletal frame does.
Frame size and why it appears in weight tables
Frame size estimates skeletal build from the ratio of height to wrist circumference. It appeared in mid-twentieth-century insurance weight tables as an adjustment, because two people of identical height can have meaningfully different skeletal builds.
The measure is crude. Wrist circumference is a rough proxy for bone structure, the thresholds vary between sources, and the adjustment it produces is small, typically around five percent either way.
It is included here because ideal weight tables still reference it and people encounter the term. In practice, body fat percentage and waist to height ratio describe your situation far better than skeletal frame does.
